Primero Pro Bitumen is a liquid-applied, single-component, coal-tar-free bitumen/polyurethane-based membrane that is highly permanent and elastic. It is used for long-lasting waterproofing protection due to its seamless membrane that remains inherently flexible.

Surface Preparation:

All surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, or dust. Remove all loose material. Moisture content should not exceed 5%. New concrete should be at least 14 days old. Old, loose coatings, dirt, fats, oils, organic substances, and dust need to be removed by a grinder. Surface irregularities need to be smoothed. Any loose surface pieces and dust need to be thoroughly removed using a broom or vacuum.

WARNING: Do not wash the surface with water.

Pre-Stripping:

Clean the surface and remove old waterproofing that has separated or de-bonded. Cracks and

Expansion joints and areas where the floor and wall meet should be filled by pre-striping. Apply bitumen using a brush to fill areas with joints and cracks that are 3” to 4” wide. Allow to dry and follow application instructions.

Application:

Mark an area of 12 sq. meters for a 20 kg pail or a 2.5 sq. meters area for every 4 kilos. Pour Primero Pro Bitumen directly from the can and spread it evenly on the surface until the entire area is covered. Repeat the procedure until the area to be waterproofed is covered. Allow Bitumen to overlap at least 2 inches. Allow to dry overnight. Protect from direct rain, dirt, and dust for 12 hours.

To use with fiberglass mesh, pre-stripe the area and apply a layer of bitumen to the marked area. While the wet bitumen is still damp, lay down the fiberglass mesh and flatten it onto the wet Bitumen. Ensure that the mesh is completely covered. Pour the remaining content of the pail or can onto the marked area and use a plastic or rubber towel to spread the bitumen evenly.

To use as a topping, apply a 2-inch slab topping to protect the Bitumen from foot traffic and other elements.

To use on metal surfaces: All metal must be clean and primed with epoxy primer or zinc chromate primer.

Precautions:

Bubbling may occur if applied to wet substrates. It should not be exposed to UV rays. It should not be used where a solvent odor is objectionable, such as in areas where food preparation or processing occurs during application. Apply in a well-ventilated area. Use a ventilator or a mask while applying. Protect freshly applied Bitumen from direct rain, dirt, grease, and loose material for at least 12 hours.
